Week 10 independent Study

This week I have uploaded everyone's model into our main environment and assembled all of the uploaded models.

Many of the components slipped out during the uploading process so I amended as many components as I could but some of the groped models had excessive number of polygons that they were not allowing me to exploded in SketchUp; my computer kept crushing, so I contacted people created models hoping for them to be able to handle.

It seems to have excessible number of  uploaded components shown due to the failer of the uploading process.

 They were the uploaded fine.

The screen shot during the assembling process.

Some of the textures dropped out of the components.

And I tried to organise the main Crysis file for everyone to use easier.
When the SketchUp models were failed to be uploaded into Crytek.
they were named as playupgrop**, which I deleted to make the folder neater.

Also I worked on creating flowgraph further in Crytek.

Addition to last week's flowgraph to calculate the distance from 1 point to the 2nd and 3rd.... and calculate the total distance... But I am not sure how to create a loop to calculate the total distance.

I created this to understand how (logic:Gate) works, so that we will not have to hold the key.

This flowgraph is to show the structure of the building: Structure types get separated into different colours when "b" key is pressed and a selected components become highlighted when is is clicked with the mouse, this can only be done while the player is in the triggered area.

Here is a demo of the flowgraph.

Week 9 Independent study

This week, I mainly worked on the flowgraph.

Below flowgraph places objects where the first and second that was clicked with the mouse, calculates the distance between, the angle in xyz accesses and rotates the second object towards the first point, also print those measurements.

It is still in-accurate but I am hoping to be able to take this further, create the tools such as a ruler, a protractor.

Presentation feedback:

Oral presentation:

Division of each sub topic was clearly done between people. The presentation showed the effort of their research towards the topic.

Written presentation:

Compared to our powerpoint.
Images and the layout were made clearly and the readability of the each slide they were better than ours.
Some of the slides had better format than others. But it could be the prove of everyone's contribution of the work towards presentation or  it could be just the matter of the time management.

Distinctiveness:

As discussed during the feedback the team could have done further research about conflict towards the digital collaboration and the Architectural practice, which apply to our team.

Referencing:
Nicely presented images with the referencing below.

The conceptual context:

I have realized that Situation Engine could be used as the tool to prevent the conflict between the clients, builders and architects.
The topic was explained clearly, it showed  good understanding of the topic and good effort of the research.

The still images:

The text was in the dot points so slides communicated clearly to audience and the font size was easy to read.

Presentation feedback

 IP

Interactive Architecture:

Oral presentation:

Many examples of case studies were talked about. It was a good way to bring the actual sample to demonstrate the topic. It drew people into the presentation.

Written presentation:

The effort of the research towards IP was shown clearly.
The sub topics were explained by comparing two issues, which made the presentation easy to follow. And it brought the discussion to the audience.
Power point slides were simple and clear for people to see.

Distinctiveness:

Although, there was lack of relationship between their project and the topic understanding of the IP was shown clearly in the presentation. It  followed the point of the IP so that I could understand what the topic is about. Also I could see that the team was working closely.

The still images:

All of the images were placed appropriately. The white background made the images clear and crisp.

Conceptual context:

I thought that the whole presentation was a little bit too long. Some of the examples could have been excluded so that the presentation does not become a blur.

GeriAmbience

Oral presentation:

The topic was presented as a high standard. It was showing that everyone was well prepared for the presentation.
Each person talked about different sub topics, which made the whole presentation more understandable.
It was showing that some people have more understanding of their project.

Written presentation:

Explanation of the presentation was followed sequentially.
The subject was divided into steps.

Distinctiveness:

The relation between the IP issue and their own project was well explained.
The effort of the research towards their own project was explained clearly which showed each person’s engagement within the project.

Referencing:

The referencing was shown appropriately.

The conceptual context:

There was a good exploration of how the IP works about the websites and appls. I understand that there is a threat of anyone taking work when the information was made open to the public; up-loadable, not resisted etc. But they need to be open to the public at some level  to promote the product. Also as the software becomes more useful and accomplished more people would want to use it, therefore the product needs to have a higher protection system. It seems very complicated when it comes to the protecting applications and software.

It was a good effort to contact Crytek asking for the quote.

The still images:

The slides looked slightly too dry. But the layout looked well done.

Week 8 independent study

This week I have worked on applying the textures to the model.

The texture of the timbers symbolise Austrailan plantation softwood, seasoned wood were used for rafters and floor joists to minimise the size of timbers.

The size of the brick is sat to 230 x 110 x 76.

I have taken tiled timber texture and concrete from CG textures http://cgtextures.com and tiled one of brick textures from our wiki and re-scaled it to the correct brick size and created bumpmap.
